HAVE A RICE DAY on Universal Day of the Child – November 20

22 October 2009

Every child needs sufficient nutritious food to develop healthy bodies.

The reality is that many do not have access to enough food and more do not have enough nutritional food to provide thier bodies with the essential nutrients to grow and maintain healthy bodies.

Hunger is the sympton that the body gives when it does not receive enough food to eat. Once they have eaten and their body feels satisfied, he or she does not feel hunger anymore. People suffer from hunger when their bodies do not get enough food to eat over a long period of time and that leads to malnutrition.

Malnutrition is when the body lacks the nutrients it needs for their bodies to grow and maintain good health. People who suffer from malnutrition are more likely to get sick and cannot fight off disease.

It is estimated that a child dies from a hunger-related cause every five seconds!

Consider what life is like for children and their parents when there is not enough food to take away hunger’s pains. Who can bear the sound of hunger…especially in a child?

On November 20 Wear your Universal Child’s Day HAVE A RICE DAY BUTTON to identify with children who are hungry and malnourished.
